Blood plasma donation is painless. It is similar to taking blood and takes place under the supervision of qualified nurses and doctors using the latest technology.

What to eat/not eat and drink before donating plasma:

By donating blood plasma, you have decided to help other people. Let’s work together to ensure that the donated plasma is of the highest possible quality and that the collection is safe for both you and the recipient.

At least 24 hours before donation, it is essential to omit the fatty diet and not drink alcohol. It’s also not good to starve. We recommend eating foods that do not contain fats, raw, and cooked fruits and vegetables, but without fat.

It is essential to drink a sufficient amount of fluids (mineral water, tea with sugar, lemon, fruit juices) before taking it. On the day of collection, breakfast is low-fat pastries with jam, fruit, and sweetened tea or juices.

What to eat before donating plasma:

  • FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: raw, pickled, compote
  • SIDE DISHES: rice, pasta, and potatoes
  • MEAT: chicken, turkey, and lean beef
  • PASTRY: bread (light and whole grain), buns, puffed rolls, rice sandwiches
  • SWEETS: jam, honey
  • DRINKS: water (sparkling and still), mineral water (natural), fruit juices, fruit teas

It is important to drink at least 3 liters of fluids the day before donation and at least two liters on the day.

AFTER DONATION, YOU SHOULD EAT SOME PROTEIN!

What to NOT eat before donating plasma:

  • Fried bacon
  • Sausages
  • Salami
  • Hot dogs
  • Creamy yogurts and everything that contains more fat
  • French fries and fried potatoes
  • Potato Chips
  • Dressings
  • Walnuts
  • Tuna
  • Salmon

What will happen with donated plasma?

Plasma collected at Blood Center is distributed to processing companies, where it is used to make blood derivatives, which are then sent back to our medical facilities.

It treats patients with serious diseases such as hemophilia, thrombophilic conditions, complicated births, oncological diseases and bleeding injuries.
