Botox is still a topic of discussion and many women and men use it. What exactly is botox, how can it be used and what to do after botox? See what we found out about it.
Botox(Botulinum toxin) or botulinum is a product of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is a natural substance, but it is produced chemically, under names such as Dysport or Botox.
In medicine, it was first used to treat muscle cramps in neurology, urology and ophthalmology. Then it began to be used in aesthetic medicine to correct wrinkles, which are formed by the contraction of mimic muscles. A small dose of a highly diluted botulinum toxin solution will cause them to weaken and smooth out wrinkles.
The substance prevents the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle and temporarily inactivates it. It works similarly to stop the activity of the sweat glands in case of excessive sweating of the armpits or feet.
Is Botox safe?
With the right dosage and application, the preparation is beneficial and also safe. Rarely, a feeling of tension and swelling may occur in the injection area. The problems are only temporary and will disappear after a short time.
Botulinum or sausage poison is considered to be the most effective toxin. However, the amount applied is not toxic to the body. Exceptionally, headaches, drooping eyelids and double vision may occur with wrinkle cosmetic applications.
If the substance flows in another direction, the muscles in the area may temporarily weaken. However, when applied to the clinic by an experienced doctor, this is a genuinely exceptional phenomenon.
Application and pain
A very thin needle is used for the application, and it is just a few injections with a slight pinch that resemble an injection. So you don’t have to be afraid of pain.
When applied to reduce perspiration, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area before the procedure, because it is a place with higher sensitivity and a more significant number of injections.
Botox application
To correct wrinkles, botulinum toxin is applied between the eyebrows, forehead and around the eyes. To prevent excessive sweating, then into the armpits, palms and soles of the feet, less often into forehead.
When to start with botox?
Age is very individual. Some have wrinkles at the age of 20, others at the age of 50. It is essential to affect wrinkles as long as they are only mimic and form only when the face is grimacing and disappear again after calming, i.e. until they are still fixed and visible at rest.
Deep permanent wrinkles must be combined with other methods of rejuvenation, such as hyaluronic acid. It is also used for enlarging and filling the lips. The lower age limit is usually from 25 to 30 years. These are mostly women after the age of 40.
How to full lips?
It is natural that lips lose fullness and shrink with age. Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are reduced in them. And we are using the last-mentioned substance of the body’s own to enlarge our lips at our clinic.
The application of fillers with hyaluronic acid is fast and will ensure you full and sensual lips for the next 6 – 10 months. The lips are painted with an anaesthetic cream before the treatment, so the therapy hardly hurts.
The hyaluronic acid filling is applied by a doctor using a thin needle or cannula. And the result? Natural lip extension red, making the lips look optically bigger and fuller.
What to do after botox?
After the botox procedure, it is necessary to remain in an upright position for 4 to 5 hours. Sometimes 8 hours is mentioned. This means not lying down, not leaning forward and also not touching your face. Remedial massages must not be performed; you should not exercise or perform heavy physical work.
It is often recommended to maintain this rest period for 2 to 3 days after application. You prefer to sleep with your head resting more. On the day of the procedure, it is necessary to skip alcohol due to higher blood flow to the face, a visit to the solarium and sunbathing in the sun.
Facial massage and peeling should be avoided for 14 days. Occasionally there is a slight redness around the injection, which disappears within the hour. A catheter can be inserted, and a small bruise is formed, which disappears in about three days.
Preservation of facial expressions
To prevent permanent immobility after the application of botox without any facial expressions and to prevent the appearance of the mask, it is necessary to apply an appropriate dose and not inject it too much. Then there is no danger of the masking effect. Mild mimic wrinkles are natural even in young people.
Make-up removal, make-up and cosmetic care
You are applying make-up for application and insensitive make-up removal is not recommended after botox application, as it may resemble a facial massage.
It is not advisable to apply creams on the face immediately after the procedure. If your skin pulls and is dry, use only more liquid forms of the products. The next day you can apply it without any problems.
Don’t use it too often
The effect after application appears in 3 to 7 days, sometimes even in 10 to 14 days. It is very individual. The overall effect lasts on average 6, sometimes 3 to 10 months.
With each application, the duration of effectiveness increases. Sometimes it is recommended to repeat the first application after three months and then after half a year.
Users follow the six-month interval most often. Again, it is very individual. Over time, you may become addicted to botox. You will mind wrinkles. But aging is a natural process.
Botox during pregnancy and lactation
It is the application of a foreign substance to the body. Therefore the application of botox is not recommended during these periods. This could be harmful to pregnancy and breast-feeding.
